Anybody know what songs Joanna played on the piano?

When Joanna first played a piece, the Closed Captions listed it as a Chopin prelude (didn't say which one - there are around two dozen of them). But I've listened to all of Chopin's preludes, and I found none that matched.

She played another piece later in the movie. The CC did not identify that one by name at all.

It was wonderful music, whatever it was she played. Hopefully somebody knows what music she played, and can list it here.

Don't mess with me, man! I know karate, judo, ju-jitsu..... and several other Japanese words.

The first piece Joanna plays is Chopin, Prelude in E-Minor (op.28 no. 4).

Later in the movie, after dinner with Leiningen and the commissioner, she plays Liszt, Liebestraum No 3.

Where do you go to find mail-order brides like this? Eleanor Parker -- wow! And she comes with an elegant wardrobe too...

I believe you're right, thanks! I listened briefly to all the Chopin Preludes (not hard to find all of them on YouTube) but I might have skipped #4 or, perhaps didn't listen to it properly. But I think it is #4. And thanks for identifying the other one as well.

Hear, hear! And to think that Heston's character spurned her pretty much throughout. I kept wanting to shout at the screen, "Well, Leiningen, if *you* don't want her, hand her over to me!" lol

The Chopin Prelude in E-Minor is also played by Jack Nicholson in the movie "Five Easy Pieces". Did Nicholson really play the piece? The camera pans from his face down to his hands, but I suspect there is some Hollywood magic going on. It's a good scene.

Interesting, thanks for the link. I'd totally forgotten about that movie... I saw it many, many years ago.

Too bad there isn't a YouTube clip of Eleanor Parker playing that Prelude. It sounded great, and she looked magnificent, sitting at the piano - albeit thoroughly unappreciated by Heston's character. lol
