TCM had the other film with Dan O'Herlihy listed

I did want to see the above but I liked this one as well.
Some Crusoe facts:
There was some talk years back of a musical Robinson Crusoe with Roger Moore and Sammy Davis
which I'm guessing ended up being the very bad "Man Friday" which I understand was a play first.

It's amazing. This film hasn't been seen since it's initial release, it was shown yesterday morning on TCM for the first time without any fanfare, and yet it already has three reviews posted.

Yes, I, too, came across this little curiosity, this weekend, on TCM. Purely by accident. At the time, I didn't make the connection that it was Amanda Blake ("Gunsmoke's" Miss Kitty!) in the title role. I loved her skimpy costume, but the T & A didn't make up for a lousy script and awful, awful, awful direction and production values. I doubt, very much, that Miss Blake listed this debacle on her resume.

"You can't HANDLE the truth!" Jack Nicholson, "A Few Good Men."

As luck would have it, I DVR'd what I thought was going to be the other film, which I wasn't crazy about viewing, it was just recorded on a whim. I was delighted to discover the mistake in the 'info' blurb, as this was a movie I'd wanted to see for a long time, being a huge Amanda Blake fan...and that's putting it mildly. Not sure if it was TCM or the cable company's error and I'm pretty sure this had never been aired before on TCM. There are very few 'pinup' photos of Amanda Blake...only two come to mind, one where she's in a modern swimsuit on a diving board and another in her Miss Kitty persona in an old tin bathtub and this movie, once Friday and Robin fashion their 'native' outfits, becomes one big cheesecake festival. Miss Kitty was always covered head to toe and Blake's other costume drama, the laughable Haji Baba, had her in very masculine garb. So for any other guys or gals who want to see a very leggy Amanda Blake, keep your eyes peeled on TCM for an additional viewing. The movie itself was really tacky, but this is one I would have been happy to watch with the sound off.

I have Comcast and it correctly identified it as Miss Robin Crusoe. I set it up to record based upon the description they gave of it:

**, Amanda Blake, Rosalind Hayes, (1953), Adventures of a shipwrecked girl (Amanda Blake) and her girl Friday. (Action/Adventure, 74 Mins.)

Given the year that the film was made, I half expected it to be a comedy. I was pleasantly suprised when the gender-swapped story of Robinson Crusoe was played straight. I have kind of mixed feelings about it, but it was decent and moderately enjoyable overall.

I'm sure it's a small universe of IMDB-ers who care about this, but if you want a really cool pinup of Amanda Blake as Miss Kitty, you can view it here:

Here Kitty, Kitty, Kitty, Kitty.

Went to the picture.
WOW!!!
Would like to have been her back-washer!

Saw an episode of Gunsmoke with a back view of her in what may have been this same tub. Sorry, don't know the episode title or what year.

No, TCM certainly did NOT have the Dan O'Herlihy "Robin Crusoe" mistakenly listed. Just check TCM's monthly schedule and you'll see the proper title and credits for this extraordinary cable station (otherwise, I wouldn't have tuned in!). It was my cable company, Time-Warner, that blundered in listing the wrong movie (which has happened before when two movies have the same title). So, in the future, make sure you click on the "This Month's Schedule" option in the TCM.com website to avoid skipping movies you might like to see. You're welcome!

Chill out. It's a simple mistake.

Every cable or satellite provider makes mistakes at some point. And even though I check TCM's schedule every month, I can't commit to memory the listing for every single film they're showing, 24 hours a day, over a 28 to 31 day period. Information slips through the cracks sometimes. People miss out on shows because of it or tune in to something other than what they had anticipated. It's not the end of the world.
