I've been looking for this movie for years and can't find it. Please help me and tell me if you know where it is.

Are you aware that there is a French and a German version, both based on the German novel known as SORROWFUL ARCADIA by Peter de Mendelssohn? Anyway, I have a cultural attache at the US embassy in Paris looking into this... and suspect I can crack the proverbial case. When I was sixteen or so, I was sick in bed with a high fever, watching TV between dozings. Late at night, Mariane of My Youth came on a local New York station and I have been looking for it ever since. Because of the bizarre nature of the film, and because of my high fever, I sometimes wonder if it ever really existed. And through the years, any information at all on this film has been very hard to come by. But here, on IMDb, there are actually other people who remember the film. If I remember correctly, aside from the unusual relationship between the boy and the woman, the lead character could also communicate with deer and other creatures of the field. And wasn't there a burley caretaker of the castle who had this incredible bushy brow?
Please tell me if anyone can get a copy of this!!!
