That climb up and then down the mountain was one of the scariest scenes

ever in a comedy.

I just watched it today and held my breath for as long as I did the very first time I saw it.

I know what you mean. This scene doesn't bother me, but I can't stand ledge scenes (with someone standing on the ledge, up a tall building). Even in a comedy, I can't watch a ledge scene.

Aw, c'mon!
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that it was it was filmed on a sound stage with a projected background. Just like most of the movie.
But I love how the two characters make small talk in an effort to control their nerves.

Yeah in some of the process shots they show the car and trailer going up at a 45 degree angle. No way in heck, not even with an empty shell of a trailer and a heavily modified car.

i know! i just watched this film and was so tense during that scene!

Having said that, there were only some funny parts, but most of the film I found pretty frustrating.

It probably affects people who have been in tense situations on mountain roads more than others. It brought back some scary memories for me and I could feel what they were going through. Their conversation was masterful writing and acting.

That scene made me grip my chair and close my eyes. It reminded me of our trips up north in my country. You hear many stories of buses falling off the steep narrow road.
