Whose picture is on the wall?

At the military base there is a picture of some old guy on the wall which can be plainly seen in several scenes. It is tradition for federal offices to have a picture of the current president, but this is not a picture of Ike or any other president. It's driving me crazy. Who the hell is it? Can someone release me from this torture and tell me who the *beep* this guy is? Please!

Pretty sure it is Eisenhower. Not a good portrait though. The one below is similar.

In the movie, it looks like a guy with a mustache but I would have to guess that it is merely the shadow of his smile.

Sorry it took so long for me to get back. That picture on the wall is definitely NOT Eisenhower. I compared it to your link and to several photos Google provided. The picture on the wall:

1) Has hair! None of the photos show Eisenhower with hair or they show him very very little hair.
2) It's a bit hard to tell, but wall guy seems to have a mustache. I can find no picture of DDE with a mustache.
3) The shape of the wall guy's head is completely different from DDE's head.
4) His ears don't stick out like DDE's ears do.

So we are still left the mystery of who the guy on the wall is. Maybe some general? But wouldn't a portrait of a general in a military office be in a uniform? Maybe it's the director's uncle?

Yes, it's been a while, but I'll take another look.

According to this web-site, Ike is the man in question but that may just be the writer's guess.

Here's a close up:

Yes, it is doubtful it would be an active military man, cshartsis1. Ike would be the most logical but the portrait is either not very good, the print of the movie just distorts his features or it is someone else.

Maybe I'll throw the movie on again sometime today.

It is Eisenhower. Frankly, guys, I don't see the mystery. Even as a kid I knew it was Ike.

We're talking about the rather big framed photo hanging on the general's office wall, right? Ike.

HOB, I would guess it was Mr. Eisenhower as it is the only sensible choice when a movie is attempting some verisimilitude to help the story along.

Dwight D. Eisenhower was the first person in the office of President of the united States that I had any awareness of when I was a child. I was told and so I knew and could recognize that he was our Leader and I was quick to respond with that when the question came up in elementary school.

But I will agree with the OP that it doesn't look like Ike in the prints available. Perhaps the new strike you mention in another post would readily clarify it, however the muddy prints that have been hawked to consumers for lo, these many years, the portrait does take on some strange distortion.

Well, that was my point, I don't see any distortion or anything that makes it hard to tell who it is. Eisenhower was my "first" president too (I missed Truman by 12 days) but to me it's obvious and always has been that that portrait was Ike. I really don't see the mystery.

It looks just l-ike him.
