The Barcelona premiere

I read somewhere that when the film opened in that town, in 1955, it caused some stir among the authorities. Can anyone please tell me what was it about exactly? Thank you.

I don't know anything about that premiere in Barcelona but if there were any problems or protests against the movie I'd guess it was due to the subject matter. Spain was and continues to be a predominantly Catholic country.

Early on in the movie, Emma makes reference to what kind of woman Vienna is. It's brought up again several times throughout the movie; with no attempts to deny it.

Vienna is the heroine of the movie. She loses her bar but other than that no evil befalls her. She's able to walk away in the end with Johnny Guitar, her one time lover, by her side. I can see why audiences in Spain might not have appreciated the message that sent.
