I have had a copy on order from Amazon.com who now say the DVD is further delaid. Have you any knowledge where I can get a Video copy, if such a thing ever existed?

I was infuriated to see that there is some kind of cafuffle about the issue of
this film on dvd !! As usual, no-one seems to know anything ! I finally managed to contact the UK company "Cinema Club" who would appear to be responsible for this. I was laconically informed that this film had been programmed for April/May 2005 !! That's all the info I have !

I am the Product Manager for the UK release on DVD. We have recently acquired the rights from Canal Plus. We have been unable to release this on DVD until 2005 as there was quite substantial restoration work that needed to be made to the master. Whilst there is no confirmed date for the release as yet, although we are aiming for the first half of 2005. We are as keen and excited about this release as all the fans, and despite our best intentions, there are inevitably constraints we have to work with. I will update this message board as and when I have further information.

cheers for the info emma-flood . Its a bloody fanstatic film, cant wait for it to be released.

It still says 1st of february 2005 on amazon.co.uk. And its only 7.99 on play.com !!!!!!!!!!!!

reply

I am not sure why this date is on there. But it is wrong. It is going to be released in 2005, and as soon as I know the exact date I will post it on this message board. Also the retail price has not been confirmed yet. Apologies.

Cinema Club are going to be releasing An Inspector Calls on the 4th April 2005. RRP is £12.99.

reply

Thankyou emma-flood, I have waited a long time for this 'An Inspector Calls', one of my all time favourites. Do you have any rights/plans/info on 'The admirable crichton' and 'The Best of Enemies', for release on DVD?

Please beware that play.com (mentioned by one of the reviwers earlier)does not ship outside of Europe even though the site itself does not prevent from placing orders to the addesses outside of Europe. I felt victim of this foolishness. I placed the order successfully and then read later about their delivery restrictions. I had to send them an e-mail to cancel my order. What a pain! One good UK site that does ship to the US is bensonsworld.com. They charge 1BP per DVD ordered. They are pretty reliable.

I followed the Amazon DVD link above and it said there was one used copy available for...$399! This is absurd.

reply

There is a copy on eBay for $22. That's the only one I can find reasonably priced online. Apparently no libraries have a copy, as worldcat.org returns no results for the film.

Do you know, it's now March 2012 and I recently bought the DVD from Amazon for £6.49 (free postage) and I find it fascinating to see the how expensive this film was.

That's all I wanted to say ......
