Murder Amidst the Whaling Industry

If any one knows of another murder mystery ( and I use the term lightly) set in the midst of the Norwegian whaling industry please make us all aware of it. It's this point that really defines this movie and creates it it's own uniqueness in cinema history.

The only other whaling movie I know is Moby Dick.

Hell Below Zero is no Moby Dick.

It doesn't have Gregory Peck, there's no white whale, but it does have the odd mad captain or three.

The plot lacks originality, is full of contrivances and pretty much out there, but I would have to recommend the movie itself to those who interested in viewing a type of film you are unlikely to see the likes of...again.

"Down To The Sea In Ships", filmed in 1948, was another whaling picture, although set in the late 19th century.

Is murder integral to its plot line?🐭

reply

Only the murder of whales, none of whom could fight back and throw a harpoon at one of the crew.
