Are they really apaches?
I´ve seen a lot of western movies dealing with apaches, but in this movie they have a very different look. It seems to me they are more similar to iroquois or mohawk than apaches. Apaches usually use long hair.

See recent comments at this site regarding that. To me they look college students moonlighting for extra money, with just a general indian appearance without regard to proper locale.

I watched this movie for the first time last night. I've also seen a lot of western movies, and i agree with you. The indians in this movie look more like iroqois or mohawk than Apaches. In all the other movies i've seen, Apache's usually wear a wide head band, and they have long strait hair. Souix, Cheyenne, Comanche ect also have long hair, but its usually in braids. In the movie 'Two Rode Together', some of the Comanche had mohawk hairstyles. I've never seen Apaches look like they do in this film though. Great movie anyway:-)
shareThe word "apache" was used by the spanish and indigenous indians and it meant enemy. The Apache indians of the southwest arrived only about 400 years before the white settlers. They did not go much further south that the existing border with Mexico.
In the case of this movie... i think they were just making it all up as they went along.
They look like Hurons.
shareNo, they don't resemble Apaches. Most likely, the filmmakers got lazy in the costume department and thought no one would notice.
