This soundtrack bumps the movie into a higher sphere automatically because of

Herrmann's extraordinary craftsmanship and attention to detail in painting a tale of rescue and treasure hunting.

Such colour in the music-such nuances which drenches this oater into levels of mystery, machismo, suspense and greed !

The music does not fit ., for the grand visuals of acCinemaScope western the score reminded me too much of sci fi , Hitchcock or even giant monsters . Elmer Bernstein would have provided a much grander scale of a western motif score worthy of a Henry Hathaway direction .
