'Probable, but highly doubtful.'

Anthony Dexter's considered response to Sidney Taffler's question about whether he thinks there's life on the 13th moon of Jupiter.

"Probable, but highly doubtful."

What is wrong with U, man? U cannot question the absolute perfection of this uncurtailed luminosity. Here U build a case for the fomal induction of platapalian zastupnevitian crankulations then cut it in three with all the wit and principal regurgitation of known concupiscence. Labeling it thusly shall merely lift it out of the dry bin of happenstance. Don't forget that radiology is driving me mad thus and the pain of circumnavigationalisms. I thank you, Lesley thanks you and I must vanish up my own pelvic juice hole.

Yep, TDF, even for you that rumble-bumble sounds less post than post-op. Ring for the sedatives.

Still, I note with pride that you're not so far gone as to be rendered unable to create an adjective out of Irwin Allen's perpetual costume designer.

Hats, as he'd say, off!

I go to sign the "unliving directive" today. And when shall come another? And incidentally, I HATE this stupid NEW Imdb thrown up bilge. Everything they change on my puter turns to the proverbial won't be written here. Ant piss!

We ALL hate it. But they, as in them, won't listen.

I hear signing unliving directives is the coming thing in our zombie-obsessed kultur of today. Bona fortuna!

reply

Yes, but U can get it to work. Say, I've heard you've been a member since April 2006. What's with that?

Another IMDb "improvement" to note our longevity on this slave galley for each and every poster, instead of having to go to the arduous trouble of clicking on our individual permanent record page.

I see you arrived seven months before I did, number XLI. We keep you alive to serve this site. Row well and live. Or unlive, as the case may be.

Take heed of the fate of that old guy in FMOOS. Look what happened to him, and nobody much noticed.

reply

Too out of it and too much pain at the moment to be too sensible. Don't do much on Imdb anymore anyway and haven't been too cut in to enjoy it as I once did. I've also quit facebook; just got the hell out. When one can't find joy or any interest one just says bye bye.

Have you had the op yet or not?

Don't quit on us.

And I just went on Facebook...or rather, the wife set up an account for me. Haven't looked at or posted on it yet. Maybe in a few years.

Get well. Fast. Remember, your recovery is "probable". Quite undoubted.

dbrockskk1:

"The Dying Flutchman" died of his disease a few weeks after that last post, in great pain following a very long and horrific illness.

We never met but enjoyed conversing on IMDb, between ourselves and with others.

Perhaps, before posting another unoriginal, overused remark, you should think twice about commenting on something you really know nothing about, and simply let it go.

I'm very sorry to discover this sad news about TDF... As someone who's been posting on IMDB since 2001, I encountered his posts on various message boards over the years...he used to previously sport another user name, which eludes me, but it was as equally silly as his current, or should I say, final one. His posts usually involved some bizarre bit of non-sequitorness that brought a touch of the surreal into any discussion, and they always gave me a welcome and needed chuckle. Again, sorry to hear he is no more.

"Get your stinking paws off me, you damn dirty ape!"

reply

Thank you for that note, Sandoz. I too have momentarily forgotten TDF's former IMDb moniker (I was honored to have been "consulted" by him about the change some years ago), but your summary of the nature of his posts is spot-on. His very last post was on a thread on the board for Life of Pi, and I took the liberty after his death of copying-and-pasting it in its entirety into my reply to his post (in case his account should be terminated and all his posts disappear). Fortunately his widow has kept him "alive" on IMDb.

I really wish he was still with us, for obvious reasons but also selfish ones, as I'm sure he'd have a lot of unique comments to make about films and other things today.

Again, thanks for taking the time to reply. See you around.

reply

You're welcome.

Although sad news, I do find it somehow fitting (and I'm sure Flutchman himself would find this to be apropos) that I would discover this news on the board for Fire Maidens Of Outer Space!"

Change doesn't always make things better...it only assures things will be different.

reply

Oh boy, yes, he would have loved that!

Indeed, I find it highly probable, but not the least bit doubtful. 

Hi Hobnob
Fluchman died? I'm sorry to hear that. I just saw a couple of his old posts while revisiting the Paul Frees threads. I realized I hadn't seen him in a while, and checked for his recent posts. This was apparently his last thread on Imdb. He's one of those usernames that seems to pop up everywhere I go around here. Did he really pass, or were you just messing with the troll? There's a The Dying Flutchman on Reddit and youtube with recent posts this year.

There are a few users that seem to be everywhere. SpookyRat + WoodyAnders I bump into everywhere I go. I've seen you around also.

Take care.

reply

Hi rp,

No, I would never fool around about saying someone had died (and I don't believe Sandoz is a troll). Unhappily, TDF did pass away. I had some off-the-boards contacts with him, and a couple of other users were much closer to him than I. I also exchanged some emails with his widow after he passed. I believe his last post was on the board for Life of Pi. He had previously used one or two other IMDb names before settling on The Dying Flutchman, but he took that moniker long before he learned he had a terminal illness.

Thanks for asking about him. You take care too, and I hope in the future we can converse on cheerier topics here and elsewhere.

reply

Sorry. I wasn't referring to sandoz as a troll. dbrockskk1 made the the comment you had responded to.

reply

Oh, that guy. Troll or not, he just made a stupid comment. Of course, he didn't know TDF had died, and as you see he never replied.
