This film was shown on TCM in the UK last night - 3 April 2007. It was listed by TCM under its alternative US title of The Detective (1954) and wrongly listed in some newspaper listings as The Detective (1968)!

But, of course, in the UK this British film was released, and is known as, Father Brown (1954). It is based closely on the short story "The Blue Cross" by G K Chesterton, the first of twelve short stories published in 1910/11 under the title of "The Innocence of Father Brown". All told, Chesterton wrote some forty-nine quietly sensational cases investigated by the high-priest of detective fiction and they are available as "The Complete Father Brown" (Penguin, 1981 and subsequent reprints).

I have asked TCM in the UK to ensure that they list this film with its alternative, better-known, title of Father Brown (1954) in future - or, at least, with both titles!

I am wondering as to why is the film not on DVD here in the United States in Region 1 format? Does anybody know a way to let the film production to have it on Region 1 Format here in the United States? It is a great film, but only saw it long ago on VHS.
