I actually read the book a few years ago after I saw the movie for the first time. Have to say that I found the book to be much less engrossing than the movie. Since you haven't finished the book yet, I won't talk about the ending but if you are expecting a big climactic finish like the boardroom scene in the movie, you may be disappointed. The book did explain a bit more about some things in the movie that were glossed over, such as the reason Walling idolized Bullard. And certainly, the movie Caswell was much more interesting than the book's Caswell.

Yes, it is an oustanding book. Cameron Hawley wrote only four business novels. All were good; this one was excellent and may have been the best. Hawley and John O'Hara are my two favorite authors
