Were the Tredway workers unionized?

The big rallying speech at the end made me chuckle from today's point of view. I can't remember if the word 'union' was ever mentioned. "Made in the USA", "Look for the Union Label", boy how things have changed. Pride in your product these days means NOTHING - union or no union. Just look at Detroit. And yes, I came from a union family.
