The Shining connection (spoilers)

Did anybody catch a scene near the end which bears some definite similarity to the Shining? When Christina begins being "haunted" by Michel, she finds a typewriter with a page still stuck in it. She looks at the writing, and it is just "Michel Delasalle" written over and over again, becoming more unhinged as we see more of the page.

To me, this was definitely something Kubrick lifted for his own movie, in the form of the infamous "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy" scene from the Shining. It's very cool to find that something that is so iconic in his film is, in actuality, an homage to another great movie.

What do you fellow film buffs think?

I thought that while watching it too and I totally agree this is noway a coincidence :D

Haha. Big The Shining fan here; but there was also the business of the man rising from the bathtub soon after! The parallels abound! There is also the axing scene in The Phantom Carriage.

I didn't think of "The Shining" but I was reminded of "Hush...Hush, Sweet Charlotte".
Dr. Drew is apparently dead, is disposed of-- in water-- by an unsuspecting Charlotte and dear Cousin Miriam, only to have Charlotte be confronted shortly by the now "undead" Dr. Drew, dripping mud, water and weeds all over the place.

Yes. It had a similar double cross. I had recently seen the Aldrich film you mentioned and loved it!
