Wish the director had learned this adage with regard to Jose Ferrer. Yes, Ferrer is multi-talented. He can sing and dance a little, ham it up in a variety of accents and do drama and comedy. There's just too much of him; you look forward to each extended cameo from famous stars just to provide relief. If you've never seen a Jose Ferrer movie, begin with "Cyrano DeBergerac". He dominates that movie without overstaying his welcome.

LOL. I agree.

I picture the director doing something like the scene in The Bandwagon where Jack Buchanan drags Fred Astaire into the men's room and whips him into a frenzy of overacting:

"Tony, you're showing me one-eighth of the iceberg, and I want to see eight-eighths. Now, go out there and give it to me."
