Jack Webb-Dragnet?

Sterling Hayden's character reminded me of Jack Webb's Joe Friday. The rapid talk,
short, one-sided speeches.
The movie seemed to have a Dragnet feel to it.

Also the patrol car that finds the Lincoln near the end of the movie identifies itself as One A One Two or One Adam 12. Is that Jack Webb or what?

Just wondering if anyone else noticed the same thing.

Although the feel of Crime Wave is just a tad similar to the original 50's Dragnet series and film, due to its gritty feel, this movie reminded me of Naked City the movie that preceeded it by a few years, it's kinda like the L A version of Naked City.

Exactly! I said the same thing to my partner when I was watching this. The scenes of the dispatchers, receptionists, telex machines and the documentary style film quality gave it the exact same flavor.

He Walked By Night is generally considered the genesis point for Dragnet.

And it had Jack Webb in it.

Both Crime Wave and He Walked By Night were written by Crane Wilbur, who probably crossed paths with Marty Wynn who was the technical advisor on He Walked By Night and Dragnet.
