I gotta agree with Atilla. Julie Adams is hot. And part of what the movie is about is that practically everyone, even the creature, thought Julie Adams was hot. Apart from being great eye candy, she is really good in this movie.
I've loved this movie since before I was old enough to appreciate Ms. Adams.
Actually, when this movie was released, they'd been around for almost ten years - people were just too prudish to let them be seen. A photo of some women wearing an early type of bikini appeared in the 16 July 1945 issue of Life magazine; they were formally presented to the fashion world on 5 July 1946. They weren't considered acceptable in the US until the very late '50s/'60s.

I think the gill man was the last of his kind, I watched it somewhat recently in my classic movies class because i requested it, and i think i remember something about it being the only one of it's kind.

Julia Adams was hot until she screamed - now that is the only thing about this movie that sucks - her goddam annoying scream and voice. Her pathetically screeching "David!" and half passing out, falling into his arms is all I can think of whenever I think of her in this movie. He should have given her to the lusts of the creature. As I said in an earlier post though, imagine the noises she makes in bed?! Sod that!
