Grace beating Judy Reminds Me of Bugs Beating Daffy Duck

There's a cartoon where Daffy just gives his all, a boffo performance, and is panting from the exertion at the end. Crickets. Then Bugs (who is prettier) does a short little soft shoe and the house comes down with the applause!

It has been said that Judy always felt overshadowed by the glamour queens because she was merely pretty and cute instead of gorgeous. I'd say that losing the Oscar to Kelly must have really enforced that feeling.

The only movie I ever saw Grace Kelly in that I really liked her performance was Rear Window and the funny thing is, in that one, she was playing a glamorous model/fashion advisor.

This positively infantile preoccupation with bosoms!Terry-Thomas about US 1963.Hasnt changed much!

I thought she was damn good in The Country Girl. Better than Judy in A Star Is Born? Perhaps not, but it was what I'd say is a "worthy" performance. And you're probably correct about Judy's self esteem after that, but she probably wasn't shocked either.
