Was this released in the south?

Just wondered if this film played in theatres in the american south at the time of release.

This is merely a guess on my part.

I would say yes but it was probably limited. Most theaters back then were locally owned and it would have been up to the theater owner as whether this film would have been shown or not. Theater owners in urban areas might have shown it but those in the more rural areas probably did not.

I'd have to actually do research, but because there is "race-mixing" of any kind, there'd be no reason for white Southern audiences to stay away from the theaters.

There were theaters in entirely black areas of cities that were considered "colored" theaters, as opposed to theaters allowing black people and having them in a section. This movie very likely was shown.
