Please, anyone to tell me what kind of chopper is flown by Mr. Mickey Rooney and his poor friend Nestor and, if possible how many of this were built? Thanks to you.

Try http://www.thisdayinaviation.com/4-august-1950/ and you'll find out it is a U.S. Air Force Sikorsky H-5. Of course, the one in the movie would be the U.S. Navy variant.
