intermission?


Does anybody out there know why this 79 min. movie has an intermission? (It was recently broadcast that way by TCM.)
Was it maybe built-in because it was shot in 3D? I imagine with those old 3D goggles one would want to take a headache break after a while.

it's because the 3D projectors (two running in synch) had special double-sized reels that loaded about 40 minutes of film on them - and since most theaters either couldn't afford or didn't have room for FOUR projectors, the films were shown with one reel change at about the 40 minute mark - hence intermission -
