"Lets make a movie today..."

20th Century Fox must not have had anything in the works for their contract stars and decided to put them all together and make a movie. Rogers was miscast as far as I was concerned...too campy and overacted. Tierney was just there cause she was under contract and looked bored as hell. Heflin, Raft were the best, if that's saying much...oh well..

That is what I was thinking. ""Let's get these stars to act in a movie about an unwed mother ,a woman who sleeps around""Movie goers will think that these stars are relevant to the times. And have a character say Pregnant, which you couldn't say on tv.

I agree with your comments on Ginger's role. It is a little cringe worthy for me when she is on the screen. You can actually feel her overacting.

Yeah Ginger calls it in (except for one scene), Gene looks depressed and frail throughout and Raft is wooden.

But the worst I think is the storyline and how the actors react to various situations - make no sense at all … when Brian tells Peter they found out Nanny was pregnant, he says it so off-handedly like it was the weather forecast, yet we're supposed to believe this was his lover who he would have left Ginger for? C'mon !!! . That's just one example, I found them over and over thinking (that character wouldn't react like that!!!

Unfortunate. This movie comes off as a "star studded whodunnit" of the Towering Inferno type that came later. I thought the "genre" was Hitchcock like, and had he directed the film it could have been something. The "bones" were there … just never realized - up the writing, the storyline, the acting, the directing, etc just by a few degrees … oh well. It is what it is.

There was only one Fox contract star in the leading cast, Gene Tierney, so your attempt at being clever falls completely flat. In the future, do your homework first, in order to not appear a jerk in public. Oh well.
