Bogart looks quite ill in this movie

I was sad to see that he died only three years after The Barefoot Contessa was made. He does not look well, and the fact that the movie is in color only accents it.

Yes, it's true, I felt the same thing . . . I'm glad Bogart's in the movie, his films are always interesting . . . though I agree he does look tired, exhausted . . . and the color does highlight this . . .

... he does look tired, exhausted ...
No argument from me. He just about smokes in every scene he is in...even in the rain. Is it any wonder the Big C caught up with him?

Ditto!

Bogie likely knew that he was in failing health so he likely saw no need to changes his ways. If it were me in the same age and scenario, I would have thought different. That being in that he had two small children, Stephen then 5 and Leslie then 2. I would have wanted to be around to seen them grow up. Unfortunately he didn't.

Very sad to know his health was failing when he made this film.

Who doesn't like Bogart? I'm happy to watch him in anything, anytime. One of the very top film stars ever.

reply

I dont think they even knew that smoking was killing them in those days.

He was full of rouge and fake hair in that movie. Ugh.
