I liked this film

I saw this movie a long time ago and I remember I liked it. Tell me if you like it, too.

Come on folks please. I love Burt, excellent actor but even he could not do much with this one. Back when white men played Indians. Those blue eyes of his please. Even the girl looked nothing like an Indian. Then all that walking home back to his people. Very silly stuff but I guess a movie of its time 1954. Don't get me wrong I love Burt but this was silly. At least he did not say "How".

I liked the first twenty minutes...basically Massai's escape from the train and the bits with him trying to evade the soldiers/townfolk. Kinda grew disinterested once he met the Cherokee who persuades him to learn to farm. Overall, it's a solid Western, especially when you consider that it's from an Indian's point of view. I don't really want to fault Lancaster(since he funded/produced the film) but the movie would have been better off with an authentic Native American in the leading roles.

It was a heap big mess, though I give Burt's production company points for trying to do something different.🐭
