Other great aquatic adventure/science fiction films?

Hey, i'm currently compiling a list of aquatic/underwater/nautical adventure and science fiction movies and would love some help from anyone well versed in this particular genre.

If anyone can tell me of some great aquatic themed films (with an emphasis on science fiction/adventure, please) I'd love to hear it!

The Abyss (extended edition) is an amazing movie...
Sphere also is thrilling too but not as good as The Abyss

Disneys Black Hole 1979 had a very similar story line to 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea

Similar plotlines for sure but Dr. Reinhardt was nowhere near as sympathetic a character as Captain Nemo was!

Goliath Awaits. A two-part made-for-tv movie back in the late /80's, I think. Far-fetched in the extreme, but it has its fans (including myself).

The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou.. kind of a humorous whimsical take on oceanography

The first one that crossed my mind instantly, too.

I ran across this thread, which may be a great help to you...

VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA (1961)

It's even got Peter Lorre in it!

Well, I don't know a whole lot of sci-fi films in this area other than 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and The Abyss (great film, by the way), but I can recommend some excellent submarine films.

It's not exactly science fiction, but The Hunt for Red October is quite an exciting action adventure film. However, if you really want to get into this, than what I'd recommend is Das Boot, the story of a group of German U-Boat sailors during World War II.

If Clint Eastwood and Chuck Norris got into a fight, Clint Eastwood would probably win.

There's always the original "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea".

Mysterious Island, Raise the Titanic, She Creature (2001), War Gods of the Deep,The Beast, Peter Benchley's Creature, The Lost Continent (1968), The Water Horse, Waterworld, Warlords of the Deep, The Underwater City, Around the World under the Sea, City Beneath the Sea, Leviathan, Destination Inner Space, and all movies related to 20,000 Leagues under the Sea.
I like the genre, too.
