That car?

In a few episodes you see the characters cruising around in what looks like a '54 Kaiser Darrin Roadster, yet the front doesn't gel with the Darrin, nor does the outward opening door.
I'm an expert on cars but this one really throws me, any suggestions?

I've been everywhere trying to find the make of that car. I agree, it does look a bit like a Darrin. I finally gave in and posted a pic on a Kaiser owners' message board. It's not very active, but maybe someone can give me clues. I'll post back here if I find something out.

That car seems to appear in a few episodes. Driven by bad guys and good guys. Looks like the producers were on a very tight budget.

"Tight budget" says it all about Rocky Jones.
Imagine if they'd had money to spend on the series. The mind boggles!
The concept was great but the execution left much to be desired.

The cars are (yup two different cars):

1953 Grantham Stardust - Vena Ray (Earth Car)

1952 Nash-Healey - Cleolanthe (Ophiucius) Car
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nash-Healey

The 1953 Grantham Stardust is also used in the movie:
Johnny Dark (1954)
The Main Characters car in that movie is
a Woodhill Wildfire, not the Grantham.

I have not seen the movie Johnny Dark (1954)
and I'm not a car expert, Just a googler who realy realy wanted to know what the Vena Ray car was, I too thought it was a Kaiser Darrin, untill I checked, because the door operated like a regular door. I've known about the Nash-Healy for a long time, One was used with the TV Series "Superman" with Steve Reeves.

They jumbled other parts together and made some unique parts of their own so that it would look like a totally different car.

reply

Odd, I grew up on reruns of "Rocky" and have read extensively on it and there's no proof one way or the other.
