Rocky Jones without Winky is like ...

... mashed potatoes without gravy. The other guy is all right I guess. But just knowing Scotty Beckett's story makes having Winky along for the ride more entertaining. He was a nut. I also like Rocky having a loose cannon like Beckett having his back. Whenever they have to take off the space gloves & dust up the bad guys you can sense an eagerness in Winky that's Beckett's inner sociopath shining through. I would love to find some record of behind the scenes anecdotes with Beckett all ticked off or hung over and flipping out, popping Bennies and perpetually waiting for phone calls from shady characters he scuttles off to meet up with.

Sad thing is that after he left the show the Rocky Jones dynamic suffered. Starting with how much I always wish he finally got a piece of Vena. Let's face it: Rocky was too old for her, had too many other women his own age after him starting with Cleolanta, who would have been the screw of a lifetime. But a hot little gal like Vena has needs too. Obvious outlet for them was Winky and I'd wager he was a good enough of a pal to keep his mouth shut about it. I can even see the scene where she tells him "OK we bang when I need it. But one word about it to anyone and I'll make you wish you had never been born."

All those failed visiphone calls to the numbers in Winky's black book was just a ruse to keep things wholesome with a square like Rocky morally bossing everyone around. "So much for the gay nightlife" indeed. Maybe Rocky rode a different rocket, if you get what I mean? Not that there's anything wrong with that. But Vena's thighs would last about two days in that little space skirt before any other man she was sighing over would have been having them for breakfast every other morning. Just sayin'.
