ROBERT VAUGHN

I'm just now watching an episode with a pre-star Robert Vaughn who played a rather stuck-up teacher who was also a student in the community college Betty attended.
It looked as though a romance might be blooming between them at one point.

Who could have guessed that a few years later, he'd be nominated for the Oscar as Best Supporting Actor (losing out to Hugh Griffith)?

Were there any other newcomers to this show (or any other sitcom of the time) who later went on to stardom?

I loved Roberts character on Father knows best.I loved the chemistry between Elinore and Robert. It was perfect.I would of loved to see more of his character on the show.As far as other future stars on the show,I am not sure.Probably

Just yesterday, there was an episode with Richard Crenna.
But he wasn't an unknown then; he had already achieved a measure of stardom as the goofy Walter on OUR MISS BROOKS.

To OP,

Please go down the page and look for the topic "Betty Anderson's Stable of Star Boyfriends".

You will see listed many comments about new or upcoming male stars that appeared on the series.

There are over 40 pages on this board.
Can you give me a clue where I can find that thread?

reply

Sorry, when I said the "page" I was referring to this page, page one of all the current threads..

Go down the page and as of today, its a few from the bottom.

Jimmy Bates who played Bud's good buddy, Claude had very good genes. Tens years later (1965) he was in an episode of Gidget and five years (1970) after that he had an uncredited role in Tora, Tora, Tora. Still looking like Claude of 1955.

I saw a first-season episode of HAZEL, which had the then unknown John Astin in a small, supporting role.
There's no way to mistake that distinctive "Gomez Addams" voice.
