rumors of a big blooper

There is a rumor that after Bond shot the main villian, actor Peter Lorre, not realizing he was still on camera, stood up and brushed himself off. Unbeknownst to him, the TV audience saw this. Does anyone know if this is true?

The rumor about this happening appears to be true but not for "Casino Royale".

It appeared to occur during a different episode of Climax!, during an adaptation of Raymond Chandler's "The Long Goodbye". http://www.snopes.com/radiotv/tv/deadman.asp

shows were broadcast live in those days!

Just bought a copy of Casino Royale from Walmart in their $1 video collection. Have watched it twice and never saw Lorre stand up after being shot, so it appears that this blooper must've been from another episode.

It was Tristan Coffin in the premiere episode. Just above yer post somebody has posted a link to the explanation.

Coffin was an apt name for the walking dead man.

Is it truly a blooper when it's a live performance that happened to be recorded?

I don't see why it wouldn't be. It does not matter whether it was live or not, it does not matter whether it was recorded.
