A comedy?

I keep hearing from people how funny this movie is, but see nothing listing it as a comedy and no reviews mention it being funny. Are they recommending a different movie?

It is not a comedy. Having said that, it has it sad/funny moments.

As the above poster said "I Vitelloni" is a drama that contains some funny moments. But it's not a comedy.
I guess Fellini's first "true" comedy was the segment "Le tentazioni del dottor Antonio" that appears in "Bocaccio '70".

Little late responding, but no, the film Fellini made immediately prior to this, The White Sheik, is a comedy! And it's a great one that I would recommend to fans of the great director.

I'd say it's a comedy/drama. Some people seem to think that if a movie has sad moments then it can't really be a coemdy, but I say a movie can fall under more than one genre and this is one of them.

Even life at its darkest has some humor, but no...this is a sad and dreary tale of the sad and dreary lives of a group of young men in a post-WWII Italian village.

A drama that contains a few laughs. I laughed at more than one scene myself.

Hey there, Johnny Boy, I hope you fry!
