Similar Films?

What American films can you think of that are very similar to I Vitelloni? I've been able to come up with Diner, American Graffiti, and Mean Streets. Any others you guys can think of?

Thanks

Dazed and Confused

It's been a while since I've seen Dazed and Confused in its entirety, but I don't really see the connection. Anyone care to ellaborate or mention another film? I don't really remember Dazed being about the difficulties in leaving a hometown, and other themes from Vitteloni, but i could be completely wrong.

Well, The big chill certainly drank from the same well (not to mention the British Peter's friends).

Kicking and Screaming by Noah Baumbach bears a very likeable resemblance to this and is also very good.

considering the film class i'm in is making me write a paper on the connection, i would say "Mean Streets" (1973, scorcese) in fact there are interviews where he makes this reference that mean streets was inspired by vitelloni

I see a lot of similarities between this film and the Spanish film "Los Lunes al Sol" (Mondays in the Sun).

Well, I don't know how well the comparison holds up, but in his movie "The Groomsman", Ed Burns said his script was inspired by I Vitellone. It is basically a bunch of guys who haven't quite grown up, to varying degrees. Taken for face value, not a bad movie.
What else comes to mind is The Lords of Flatbush and Rumble Fish (sort of). And the teenage Toto in Cinema Paradiso.

2. Being bad at maths.
3. Being sad.

Yes, pretty much all of Burns' films are of this theme.
