Unbelieveable Plot

That surly Det even back in the 50's would never scream at people the way he did in the station. The director should have had Boone tone down his acting a bit.

um... you do realize this is a 1953 Film updating a 1930s (or older story)

Miranda Warnings didn't exist in the US until 1966, and it was probably well after that, that 'Police Brutality' was recognized as a thing...

I've seen other 40's films where they flat out beat the guy and he doesn't even complain?
Apparently they really did the spotlights in the eyes and smoke blowing in your face stuff on a routine basis. As for the screaming that was probably the least of a suspect's worries.

I watch a lot of old movies and have, on more than one occasion, heard police give the person they're arresting what seems like the 'Miranda' warning. This is prior to 1966. I haven't done any actual research on the issue but I wonder every time I hear it. I'm pretty sure the Miranda case required that all arresting officers say the phrase each and every time and as soon as they have someone in custody.

It seems those words us law abiding citizens learned from cop shows and movies has been in existence for a long; even before Miranda. It's always been our right but most people probably wouldn't know it. Even today that would be the case for us law-abiding citizens except we hear it so often on TV, we practically know it by heart - 'You have the right to remain silent...'
