TATI's influences?
Anyone know what influenced/inspired his filmmaking? His favorite films etc. ?

As I recall, in the his intro-featurette, Terry Jones says that Tati had been to that beach, or a beach nearby, earlier in his life, and wanted to make a film about it.
His persistent message seems to be that modern life is obstructing us from the simpler pleasures.
