So frustrating! - Spoiler Alert

I'm not a big fan of this movie. There are a lot of things about it that really bother me. I won't delineate them here except the end which I'm not sure I understand.

Did Alice take Carol to be a ward of the state? She's not going to her mother, thank goodness, but she's not staying with her father either. If this is true, why is everyone so nonchalant about it?

Okay, I'm mentioning one other thing that annoys me but it goes with what I said above. Alice supposedly falls in love with Steve and puts in her report that Carol needs a mother; as in Steve needs a wife. How convenient! Now she's using the child to get herself a proposal? Disgusting!

Steve had made a few mistakes with Carol like not paying enough attention to her education but those issues could easily be overcome. It wasn't necessary for Carol to be taken away from him.

In any case, I didn't like the movie and I didn't John Wayne or Donna Reed in their roles. The little girl was great, I liked the father, and that mother, wow. She's really good at playing bad. I last saw her in Narrow Margin but in this she was even worse. I don't know if it's because she played a mother in this one but boy she's believable as a nasty woman.

Woman, man! That's the way it should be Tarzan. [Tarzan and his mate]

"Did Alice take Carol to be a ward of the state?"
Yes.

"If this is true, why is everyone so nonchalant about it?"
He'll get his daugter back, when the new investigation and report are finished.

"It wasn't necessary for Carol to be taken away from him."
The judge didn't give them a choice.
