Raiders of the Lost Ark - 18th Century Style.

Has anyone else noticed the similarities between this film and 1981's "Raiders"?
No doubt Larry Kasdan saw this film as he was developing the "Raiders" screenplay.

This movie and "The Secret of the Incas" (1954) starring Charlton Heston were the basis for the Indiana Jones character and the Raiders screenplay.

I recently watched "Son of Fury", starting Tyrone Power, John Carradine, and Gene Tierney (1939). A great film. Many have stated the plot is similar as well.

When they started the Indy franchise, and Star Wars, I remember everyone involved acknowledged the influence of the films and TV series they watched as kids. But a lot of (presumably much younger than me) viewers these days are unaware of this.
Please note this is not a criticism of anyone - it's just a little interesting to see it happen.
