Why not use Ramon for collateral?

Wouldn't it have made sense for Max to put Ramon on the phone while Angelo was negotiating? That would have evened out the deck - Riton for Ramon - and Max might not have had to sacrifice his loot.

It's surprising that the cool-headed and fastidious Max didn't consider this option. Just letting Ramon go seemed like a waste.
