Joan's earrings

In several scenes, it looks as though Joan is wearing one earring normally, and has her other earring clipped to the top of her ear, instead of her earlobe. Did anyone else notice that? Was she trying to start a fashion trend?

I saw that too. It looked ridiculous. I can't believe it was intentional.
