Simone Signoret

I haven't seen a bad performance from her. She's usually so vibrant or seductive yet she's subtle, almost "homely" in her ways here, as the character required (I read a review where somebody called her acting "flat", although that's just because she was not the sexy femme fatale). It was impossible not to think of Jeanne Moreau while watching her; Moreau before Moreau, or simply Signoret doing her thing.

I thought Maria Pia Casilio who played Georgette,(the chambermaid) was cute & sexy and should have been used more in the movie.
