Thunder in the east

I remember seeing this film in about 1959/60. I clearly remember it being part of a double bill at my local ABC cinema. If, as I believe, it was made in 1949,it must have been knocking about for at least 10 years before ending up as a double bill feature. I recall seeing it some years later on television but I don't imagine that it has been shown for many years. It is quite interesting to see that copies of the film are available on ebay. However, I don't think that the film justifies the prices that are being asked, it is after all a fairly tired, and not very well thought of old potboiler and is more a curiousity piece than anything else.

No, I saw "Thunder In the East" as a kid at a drive-In. The year was 1952. I remember the screening vividly because it was a foggy night and the picture wasn't clear. It wasn't particularly good, as I remember, but any movie with Alan Ladd grabbed my attention. So, in 1959, you saw a re-release, not the original release.

There is something to be said when movies which need location shots for reality and they are filmed in Hollywood with ersatz native actors.
