How do I get a copy?

Hello All,

My uncle is 72 years old and the other day he asked me to help him find a copy of the 1953 movie, "Take the High Ground". My uncle is at the end of his life and I know this is one thing I can do to make him smile before he passes on. My uncle went in to the army during this time and would like to relive his bootcamp days when he was young and full of life. I would like to thank you now if you have any information on how to get a copy of this film. Here is my email address: [email protected]

Thank you,
Kevin

Dear Mike:

I am 70, and took my basic training (Jan/Feb '54) at Ft. Bliss, Texas, on the obstace course built for the movie. I went from Bliss, to Ord (for approximately 3 months) Basic Army Administration School. And then finished up with the 4th Armored Division, at Ft. Hood, Texas. Incidentaly, it was at Ft. Ord, that Lou Costello introduced me to Bud Abbott, when they were doing a show at the post. It brings back the same fond memories that your dad had. I found your post while looking for a copy of the film.

I am also E-mailing this from AOL.

Sincerely,

Sid

My father-in-law (who is no longer living) was one of those Marines in the movie, and I too am trying to find a copy of it. Does anyone know how to find out in advance when a movie will next appear on TCM?

TCM is your best bet...

mikemoran43 stated earlier about his father being at FORT ORD when they were filming...THE MOVIE WAS SHOT AT FORT BLISS, TEXAS, APRIL-MAY, 1953 and it is strictly ARMY...no Marines...sorry, drlkwk.

i was there...dog 7 (basic training 1953) one of mu training officers had a speaking role..."BY THE BOOK, RYAN, BY THE BOOK"

Hard to mistake the Franklin Mountains for *any* terrain in or around Ft. Ord. Ord however was used when Jackie Gleason and Steve McQueen made "Soldier In The Rain", another great Army film.
