Run Time differences

The US VHS release from Janus was 82 Minutes
The PAL REGION 0 Tartan DVD was 92 Minutes
now the Criterion DVD is 96 Minutes.

Any thoughts on these differences? Any reasons for the cuts? I would assume it is a good thing that the new Criterion discs are 96.

While I can't explain the VHS run-time, I would imagine the disparity between the Tartan and Criterion editions has to do with European-vs.-American video standards. The PAL format uses a different frame-rate than the US NTSC format, resulting in slightly different run-times overall.
