Hugh Jackman hopped into the Tony Awards for his hosting duties to the "Take Me to Broadway" number from this movie. I was pretty excited but a lot of people didn't recognize it and were upset/confused by the "lame" opening number.
shareThanks for noting this! I watched the Tonys and saw Hugh J. hop past a monitor that was showing an old B&W clip of a man in a white suit hopping along a sidewalk. I didn't recognize the clip and thought the hopper might be Dick Van Dyke. Nice to have this history mystery cleared up. Maybe TCM can feature the movie sometime soon.
Just once I'd like the Oscars show to be even half as entertaining as the Tony Awards perennially are. Am I asking too much?
I loved it. Hope this little forgotten movie gets some more recognition on TV now that its popularity just went up by a possible 1000% :p
