Still taller than me, at 5' 3". I've paused my screening of Shane on Netflix to come to IMDB. From what I read hear, Ladd was a man of some substance where it counts. Where it counts, I say.

Haha!! In the Aussie vernacular: "Like a drover's dog - all prick and ribs."

I was wondering if he was as short as they say, but I've just watched this and noticed in a few shots he's no taller than Jean Arthur.

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.

Jean was 5'3" he was 3" taller than her.

He often had to stand on a box while filming.

he was not only short; but very slender, as well. probably small boned. i'll bet his hands were small, noticeable when shaking hands.
