The only thing good was the storyline.

I am watching this on TCM right now.Hauling "Nitro" is a dangerous job. i've know guy who do this. They use "straight box trucks" with one bottle of "Nitro" hung in a "sling net" The guys not getting along was interesting part. Why back out over a ledge with a loaded truck didn't make it clear, plus the guys smoking with "Exploxives" on board the truck? I thought they were delivering to an oil field ? Why are they blowing up the side of a mountain ? Only professionals are allowed to use "Nitro". I'd like to see a remake of this to nowdays standards. Most companies would have the road "cleared, and smooth" for hauling this stuff. The only thing good was the story.

That's one of the most moronic reviews I've ever read.

The second moronic for me. If you'd like to laugh a bit, this is number one for sure for me, by certain Blobsie on Cries and Whispers by Bergman:

The trouble with Bergman is that he competely ignored the 16 year old audience for films.

Just think what a brilliant film it would be with a good car chase,or some funny moments (like somebody being sick or picking their nose)- Forum below

Imagine what Cries and Whispers could have been with Angela Jolie playing Karin or Anna by Cameron Diaz - you'd have something people would want to see. Cinema audiences don't want explorations of the human condition do they ?

Of course the forum below is so right . Bergman is over-rated (along with Michelangelo, Mozart and Milton - as Woody Allen might have said)

I think he was joking.

Why? You like bad movies?

And what are nowadays standards - characters are undeveloped, movie is in color and there's Captain America to pick up the truck in case it falls over the cliff? Plus much more blood and some nudity?

reply

I would cheer for the nudity, if this wasn't an almost entirely male cast. Of course, they could always go the GhostBusters reboot route.

You do realize things were different in early 1950s middle-of-nowhere South America right?
