It Was Just A Shoe

Why were her people acting all agasp when it was revealed that her shoe had fallen off? It was just a "wardrobe malfunction".

reply

Lol...it is just a shoe! They all felt that everything involving the princess had to be prim and proper, which it probably usually was. Having to do something about a stray shoe before her public was almost scandalous . It helped emphasize the point ahead of time that Anne needed some freedom from that kind of life.

 I've heard that from other people, too. It's a conspiracy!

Mag, Darling, you're being a bore.

reply

Actually, her shoe did not fall off. She slipped her foot out because her feet hurt, and then she could not get it back on.

As Marilyn Monroe says in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953), a lady never admits that her feet hurt. Also, I knew a woman who was a saleslady. She was told by her supervisor that she should never remove her shoes while trying to sell her product to a customer, because the customer will have less respect for her.

This scene was the highlight of the movie :D

Imagine if it happened today to one of them English royal wives. It would still be a tabloid scandal.
