I thought she looked much better in the black suit. The magneta dress did nothing for me. I know it was supposed to make her look sexy, but it didn't work for me...

Thanks for sharing this site. What great pictures. My favorite at this site
is number 7; the white bolero jacket and skirt w/ blue top and sash.

One of those Hollywood Diva's ought to be rocking a copy of this outfit;
maybe Beyonce could bring that one to life!!

This is what I call fashion!!

I totally agree about the black suit; nothing more classic! The magenta dress was pretty; she just had on the wrong shoes. She should have had on a closed
toe pump in the same color as the dress, instead of that ankle strap business.

The black suit was demure and flattering. The magenta dress too was pretty but the tie-lace shoes UNflattering. However, they were fashionable at the time and much beloved of Joan Crawford. They were practically her (JC's) trade mark, but I cannot say I like them.

I watched this movie the 1st time when I was a little girl.

Three things stuck out in my mind and remained there very strongly:

1. The Falls, of course.
2. Tower scene with Cotten stalking Monroe up the staircase.
3. The magenta dress.

When I saw MM in that dress, I thought she was the most beautiful woman in the world.

I think that dress is one of a kind.

The shoes were supposed to be sexy. They called them '.... me shoes'

Her clothing in this was exquisite - my favourite was the powder blue suit we first see her wearing. But this dress was sooo flattering around the shoulders and bosom. It was very beautiful and aside from other suggestion posters have made I've no idea where you might get such a dress.

For a dress like that you've got to start laying plans when you're about thirteen.
True and those plans have to include developing a certain persona to wear such a dress too.

Marilyn would look good in anything (she is the one famous for wearing the burlap sack), but I didn't think the dress was all that revealing. There is a pretty conservative neckline, no cleavage, no slit, it's not see-through. The husband was a whining bastard, and he should have just assumed she was going to cheat. I would have been glad to just lay next to her, for crying out loud.

Yes I was always partial to that blue suit. I wish I could find something like that to wear today.

When I think about this movie the only image that springs to mind is Marilyn in the red dress crossing the courtyard and sitting on the steps. It features Niagara Falls FCOL but the only force of nature I can think of is Marilyn.

What was it about her hair? It is so thick and the curls kind of bounce like they have springs. I guess she had naturally curly hair with a lot of body. I think it was set with pin curls( like she removes from her hair in The Seven Year Itch). I would give up a lot for my hair to do what hers does in this show.

I agree it's a great dress and MM looks terrific in it. One caveat - you have to have a body like hers to look like that in the dress!

This positively infantile preoccupation with bosoms!Terry-Thomas about US 1963.Hasnt changed much!

I googled "wiggle dress" today. There are MANY replicas out there. The retro pinup and rockabilly girls wear them. HOT HOT HOT

I don't see my post here in the archives, but I remember posting here about that dress.
I absolutely loved that dress and that scene! Get out the fire hose!
She was gorgeous in that dress. I loved it when she sat down with the Cutlers. When Ray commented that she must like that song, (Kiss) I get such a kick every time she says, "There is no other song."
So funny! So cool!
