I downloaded this movie to see MM but I have to say Jean Peters was hotter IMO! I also liked how the Polly character was so self-assured around and nice to MM's bombshell.

That's funny, i was looking at the same thing...lets face ot, there is a difference ...Monroe facially pretty..Peters beautiful...Monroe body more voluptious than Peters, who did not look bad in her suit either...the only difference I see, is that Monroe parading around like the perfect caricature of herself and it was that way with all her movies...till this day, I could not see why they refer to her as a super star...As for the movie there was scene that did not make much sense to me..maybe it had bad editing. It was the scene where she was all set to get into the car with her neighbors, until she hear "Bells'...which reminded her that her boyfriend was giving her the signal, and she leaves them to go to him. The next scene she is visiting the morgue and sees him dead...When he rang that bell, it was suppose to be a sign that he did what they had planted to do, kill Cotton. We don't see what that meeting took place but you assume he is still alive, but according to Cotton's story, 'he came after me with a wrench or whatever and i just defended myself'. Too convuluted...
shareJoseph Cotton figured out that the song she kept humming around him to taunt him while she was gaslighting him was the song she and the lover used for each other, so he set it up for the bells to play the song after the lover was dead. She assumed the lover had arranged for the song to play, and when she saw him dead she realized hubby had to still be alive. There was a slot that said "song requests" and you see him drop a paper in it. He uses to the bells to play the song to torment her several times.

shareThey are equally attractive for my taste. Marilyn of course has more to show with that voluptuous figure, exquisite face and seductive nature. But Jean? She has a stunning face and very fit body herself (wow does she look great in the bikini scene and the final moments of the film). In the end, they're two lovely beauties.
