There's definitely something off putting about the actor Casey Adams (Polly's husband) who was later billed under his given name Max Showalter.

But if you think he was obnoxious in this what about Don Wilson's hammy turn as "the Shredded Wheat boss". Must he guffaw after almost every line?

Interesting plot variation .... maybe you have material there to develop a twisted remake or even a whole new film!
