the cutting of the encounter of Loomis and the boy friend

The CD version cuts a central part of the story -- what ended up as the murder
of the boy friend is not shown -- simply omitted. Why and who decided to
make this inappropriate cut. It's central to the story.

Spoilers ahead!
Well, if they had shown the struggle between Loomis and the lover boy with the wrench by the falls, the viewer would be aware too soon that the murder plot had backfired, and the scene where Marilyn Monroe goes to the morgue to identify the corpse would lose all its force and surprise element.

That is true.

I tend to agree with this. I saw the movie without that scene, and it definitely presented a twist when her husband was a big reveal. But I think the movie would work also with that scene included. Marilyn's plot to kill the husband seems out-of-the-blue.

Also somewhat annoying was that we never see what happens to Cotten in the end (it should be obvious but still)
